Program Manager

Unity House of Cayuga County

During my twenty years at Unity House, I served in different roles. In each Medicaid funded program, I supported adults with developmental disabilities to live empowered, self directed lives.

I served as a Residential Program Manager for a home serving men with mild to moderate disabilities who also had histories of criminal sexual offenses. I supported the residents to manage their health care, maintain benefits including Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP. I manged medication including ordering, counts and med administration staff oversight. I managed the staff scheduling, mandated fire drills and the home and vehicle maintenance.

I served as Assistant Program Manager for Day Services for more than 10 years. I supported the program's growth from serving fifteen individuals individuals to over one hundred. This included transitioning the program from paper record keeping to online recording keeping using Foothold Technology.

I supported a caseload of up to 27 individuals receiving services. I wrote individualized service plans based on the individuals desired outcomes. I participated in each individuals' service planning meetings with team members from various other supporting services and family members.

I oversaw scheduling for the staff, individuals and vehicles for the program.

I served intermittently as a Direct Support Professional supporting individuals to work toward their valued outcomes, access their community, encouraging self direction and independence.

In each role I acted as a mandated reporter. I made IRMA and Justice Center reports when needed. I routinely collaborated with teams and external agencies and services, such as Broome DDSO, TST BOCES, Challenge Industries, JM Murray Center, FLIC, Racker Center, TCDSS, Gadabout and IYB. I developed my abilities to meet people where they were, build upon skills, overcome barriers, support self advocacy, develop trusted relationships, while maintaining professional boundaries.
