Customer Sevice has been the majority of my experience for the 42 years I spent with Pratt & Whitney. I was lucky enough to work many areas of the company and learn so much of the different engines. The new, the overhaul...engineering side of it, the test side. Most people only know their little corner, I learned so much more.
As a customer service person I worked in any capacities. I worked in the tool cribs and provided the people on the shop floor with what they need to work their jobs whether it be parts, supplies, work instructions etc. Another aspect of the job I help as customer service is when working overhaul is the customers would come in to review the parts that came off their engines and not put back on. They would determine what they wanted to do with them. Here in the states we have to follow FAA guidelines and other countries do not. I would have to organize, set up, arrange rooms for certain customs of customers for private/prayer time...order lunch or make lunch reservations..communicate with the customers by email or phone to receive instructions on what to do with material and relay shipping info to them.
This was an Overhaul Facility for Aircraft Engines. I worked in the disassembly area. Engines came in for overhaul and would be disassemble into to their sections (high compressor, low compressor, exhaust case etc) and sent to their respective areas. Wr would then inspect the rest of the engine to determine what parts are good, what parts can be repair if needed, and what parts can't be repaired per the engine manuals we inspect to, so the part needs to be replaced and ordered. On the parts that need repaired, work order instructions need to be written up per the engine manual to send the part out for repair.
