I have substituted for several classes at Sacred Heart and have enjoyed the students very much. The staff and students are very knowledgeable and helpful.

• I began subbing because I still enjoy being with children. I was a school librarian and had not been in the classroom for 17 years. I was nervous to return to the classroom but immediately fell back into teaching routines. When I sub I tell my students I have several goals for the day.
• 1. To keep them safe.
• 2. To complete as much of the work as possible.
• 3. To have fun completing all work.
• 4. My most important goal is that everyone go home with the same smile they walked in with that morning. I tell them to do this we have to treat each other with friendliness and respect.
• 5. I am a very flexible teacher. If there are no lesson plans available I ask what is currently being taught and write lesson plans that will review and reinforce those objectives.

• Responsible for the school library budget.
• Determined library needs, obtained quotes, and completed purchase orders.
• Processed and catalogued new materials.
• Scheduled 650+ students to come through the library weekly.
• Taught library skills such as shelving, fiction, non-fiction, and searching databases.
• Introduced students to quality literature.
• It was truly the best 17 years of my career.

• Instructed students in grades K-6 reading, English, and math in a pull-out format.
• Supported students in other subject areas.
• Prepared IEP's and participated in ARD meetings.
• Tracked student progress and taught children at their skill level.

• Taught first and second grade the first 10 years I was employed by LVISD.
• Instructed 25 - 28 students in a self-contained classroom.
• Taught all subject areas.
• Grew tremendously as a teacher changing teaching techniques as I learned how to help my students achieve at a higher level.
• Had high expectations of my students, teaching them at their skill level.
• Collaborated with parents, administrators and counselors to develop improvement plans for struggling students
• Organized classroom supplies and decorated walls to create fun, nurturing settings and meet learning needs
• Designed dynamic lesson plans based on student interests to increase overall student achievement

• Taught third grade at Fort Sam Houston Elementary for one year
• Enjoyed teaching third grade because students were old enough to delve deeper into studies such as Science and Social Studies.
• Instructed 25 - 28 students in a self-contained class.
• Taught all subject areas. using textbooks provided to teach skills needed to achieve in third grade.
• Planned lessons according to district standards to cover requirements and prepare for standardized tests
• Helped students develop self-esteem and life skills by fostering healthy conflict-resolution, critical thinking and communication
• Established and enforced rules of behavior to drive social development and maintain positive interactions
• Left the district because a position became available in the district I resided, La Vernia ISD.

• After moving to San Antonio in July, 1980 I obtained employment with Fort Sam Houston ISD in the Special Education Department.
• Taught students in grades K-6 with another certified teacher and two para-professionals in one classroom.
• Responsible for implementing student IEP's and teaching objectives determined by the IEP.
• Worked with students at their skill level and supported classroom teachers when necessary.
• Developed student IEP's and participated in ARD meetings, sharing progress and skill levels with committee members to determine continued eligibility.
• Modified general education curriculum for special-needs students using various instructional techniques and technologies
• Taught students across multiple classifications and degrees of special needs
• Partnered with standard education teachers from across academic departments

• I began my teaching career at Fort Bend ISD.
• Taught first grade at Townewest Elementary School with three certified teachers.
• Instructed 30 students.
• Students were grouped by skill level for reading and math. Because of my special education certification, I taught the lower skilled group of students.
• Used many hands on materials such as counting blocks to teach basic math skills and magnet letters to teach letters and sounds.
• Taught students subject-specific material, learning strategies and social skills
• Built positive relationships with parents to involve families in educational process
