I have been in Law Enforcement since 2008 and been employed with the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office since December of 2022, initially as a School Resource Officer but have been assigned as an Investigator with Investigations since my promotion 8 months ago. Prior to that, I was employed with Charlottesville Police Department from July 2011. I spent 6 years in Patrol before being assigned to the General Investigations Bureau. My first year in investigations I was assigned to the Special Victims Unit before moving moved over to the Major Case Unit investigating major crimes such as homicide, armed robbery, officer involved shootings, rape and any other cases assigned. I then returned to Special Victims where I spent another year before being promoted to Corporal. When I returned to Patrol as a Corporal on Midnight Shift, I immediately assumed the role of Acting Sergeant on and off for 3 years, the longest stint being 11 months in the Sergeant position. In this position I often actively supervised between 8 and 20 Officers on a busy Friday and Saturday night. I also served as the housing liaison for our department where I worked alongside the housing commissioners and various city and community members to help stop drug and gun violence in the city and interact with citizens to address any concerns they had.
I served four years active duty in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of E-5, Sgt. prior to getting out of the military. I was assigned as the assistant section leader and had 3 Sergeants, 4 Corporals and 14 Marines working under me. I spent 12 years in the Army National Guard as a Sergeant in both the medical and infantry field. I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in 2008 and 2010, respectively. While in Afghanistan I was one of two Infantry Squad Leaders in charge of 14 soldiers. I was personally in charge of many daily operations from mission planning to supervising equipment and personnel during operations. I led troops on 45 combat missions prior to being medically evacuated for injuries sustained during combat. I was in charge of several combat engagements directly supervising troops that were in contact with the enemy.
I am very excited about the openings within your department, wh I have worked closely with for many years.
