I provided nursing care for gynecologic oncology patients who received related surgical interventions and chemotherapy. I was asked to staff an opthalmology floor where I took care of patient who suffered from serious eye infections, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

While at Barnes I attended classes and learned to read cardiac monitors and I took care of patients suffering from medical conditions related to the heart - myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias who were admitted to the telemetry floor. Before leaving this hospital, I staffed an otolaryngology floor where I cared for patients with ailments ranging fro the need of a tonsillectomy to patients who required a total laryngectomy for cancer.

After receiving my license to become a practical nurse, I bagan my nursing career at this hospital where I took care of post-operative orthopedic patients and general surgery patients.
