Leadership

  • Flight commander occasionally in AFROTC. Responsible for ensuring standards are met within my flight and that cadets are prepared for all events, such as physical training, class, and leadership laboratory.
  • Drum major in my high school's marching band for one year. I led a band of 220 people. Not only do I need to be able to conduct the band during rehearsals but I am also the band directors' right hand to ensure I guide the band to where they need to be and run practices smoothly. Under my direction, the band placed 2nd out of 35 bands at a band competition at Ohio State University and were Grand Champions at Hilliard-Bradley High School's competition.
  • Uniform Crew Captain my junior year of high school, leading a team of 20 students who were in charge of ensuring proper uniform fit, wear, and storage for over 220 band members. Had to quickly resolve last minute uniform problems at various football games and band competitions to alleviate stress for my directors.
  • Flight commander for AFJROTC freshmen for three semesters in high school. Required to lead and teach them every day by holding myself to a higher standard in behavior and uniform wear. Had to be on the same page as my instructors at all times so I could properly run class on a daily basis.
  • As a sophomore in high school, handpicked by the band directors to ensure proper loading of uniforms and luggage on an overnight band trip for 220 band members. Selected over upper classmen and others in my class due to my reliability and organization.
