Daily operations and care delivery

• Functional retraining: Facilitate intensive training in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) to maximize independence.
• Patient-centered goals: Formulate measurable, time-bound functional goals tailored to acute neurological recovery trajectories within strict insurance timelines
• Cognitive rehabilitation: Assess and treat deficits in attention, memory, executive functioning, and visual-spatial perception impacting daily safety.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration: Partner closely with doctors, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive discharge plans.
• Family training: Lead intensive education sessions for caregivers on safe transfers, body mechanics, and management of daily life strategies.

Clinical expertise and evidence-based interventions

• Advanced stroke rehabilitation: Leverage CSRS credentials to implement evidence-based motor learning theories, manual facilitation, and cortical priming for hemiparetic upper extremities.
• Neuroplasticity facilitation: Design high-repetition, task-specific protocols to manage spasticity and accelerate neuromuscular re-education in complex acute neuro populations.
• Evidence-based technologies: Integrate advanced rehabilitation tools including functional electrical stimulation (FES), orthotics, and specialized mobile arm supports.
• Comprehensive neuro evaluation
• Cognitive-perceptual retraining: Formulate restorative interventions addressing spatial neglect, executive dysfunction, and attention deficits to improve safe, real-world ADL performance.

Leadership and operations

• Caseload management: Efficiently manage high-acuity neurological caseloads within fast-paced inpatient rehabilitation facilities, consistently meeting rigorous insurance and documentation requirements.

Extraprofessional engagements

• Level II Fieldwork Educator, providing intensive clinical mentorship and 1:1 supervision to occupational therapy students during 12-week in-patient rehab rotations

Job description

Specialized clinical care delivery

• Geriatric functional management: Implement restorative interventions addressing age-related physical and cognitive decline, preserving autonomy in foundational self-care and functional mobility.
• Orthopedic post-acute recovery: Execute specialized rehabilitation protocols for total joint arthroplasty, spinal surgeries, and fractures, enforcing weight-bearing restrictions during ADL retraining.
• Debility therapeutic reconditioning: Design progressive, high-tolerance endurance and strengthening programs to reverse severe generalized debility resulting from prolonged acute hospitalizations.
• Long-term care maintenance: Develop customized functional maintenance programs for long-term care residents, preventing contractures, skin breakdown, and premature loss of physical independence.

Assessment, safety, and documentation

• Section GG execution: Score and track standardized functional independence metrics under insurance guidelines, justifying medical necessity and optimization of reimbursement categories.
• Seating and skin integrity: Conduct comprehensive wheelchair seating and positioning assessments, utilizing specialized cushions and therapeutic positioning to mitigate high pressure-injury risks.
• Cognitive-safety screening: Administer cognitive screens to assess judgment and safety awareness, determining appropriate supervision levels for medication management and home safety.
• Contracture management: Fit and monitor anti-deformity splints and orthoses, maintaining joint alignment and skin integrity for low-mobility long-term care residents.

Discharge advocacy and education

• Caregiver transition training: Lead detailed family education sessions on body mechanics, transfer techniques, and the use of specialized adaptive equipment prior to discharge.
• Readmission prevention: Minimize post-discharge hospital readmissions by recommending targeted home modifications and ordering essential durable medical equipment (DME).
• Restorative nursing collaboration: Train and collaborate with restorative nursing assistants to ensure the continuity of maintenance programs for long-term residents.
