Educational Research Experience

  • Assessment of Equitable Math Outcomes for Students in The Virtual Learning Environment. Developed and administered survey to assess whether math courses provided equitable opportunities and resources for all students during synchronous and asynchronous instruction to be successful in meeting the learning objective. Administration confirmed disparities in opportunities and resources for students in each group and these disparities impacted student outcomes as measured against learning objectives. Administration used this information to design and

        implement additional support.

  • Assessment of Teachers' Perspectives on Systemwide Opportunity for Growth. Administered surveys to understand perspectives on teachers' experiences with support structures and general areas for organizational growth. Results include consensus around the need for increased individual support and support for student engagement. Findings informed modifications to the administrative walkthrough structures and outreach to families of students with decreased engagement numbers.
  • Assessment of the Efficacy of Support Systems for Novice Educators. Developed and administered surveys to understand additional supports required for a successful transition to the virtual teaching environment. Findings include consensus around need for enhanced support building instructional content within the virtual platforms such as Adobe Connect and Canvas. Leadership used these findings to implement modifications to beginning of the year professional development incorporating mid-year and end- of- year checkpoints as additional support.
  • Assessment of Teachers' Perspectives on Synchronous Sessions Schedule Change. Developed and administered surveys to understand perspectives of teachers on the proposed synchronous sessions of K- 5 students increasing from two days a week to four days a week in core subject areas. Findings determined consensus on the need for increased synchronous sessions to meet student growth and instructional minutes per state guidelines. Administration redesigned the daily synchronous and asynchronous schedule of students in grades K-5 to include the additional days of live instruction in the virtual environment.
