I started in the healthcare field in 1985 and have worked hard and passionately my whole career. I have taken special skills with the dementia resident as well as the families that are involved with their loved ones dementia care. I have a specialty with being a positive team member and being fair. I stand by the idea that I would not ask one of my coworkers to do something that I wouldn't do myself. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty, and do what it takes. I have created teams in my career that I am very proud to have been apart of their training, progress and struggles. I have a passion for leading, helping and caring.
I managed 2 different memory care facilities that together occupied 105 beds as well as managed 80 employees. I performed monthly budgeting, managing the facilities grounds, care of the residents, training of the staff, care plan auditing for the nurses working on site, assessments and re-assessments, working the health department as their primary contact when visiting both sites and evolving the dementia residents care needs as they progress through their disease process.
I worked as the Director of nursing for 108 bed assisted living community with two 16 bed memory cares included. I worked with the on site doctors as well as working with the outside clinic Dr's. I oversaw the management of the staff including the schedule and training to health department specifics as far as patient care being given. I worked closely with families by first introduction at the initial assessment and made myself available to them as their loved ones would move in and acclimate to their new setting. I worked closely with many different outside agencies as far as pt, ot, hospice, skilled nursing and on site foot and eye dr's to get the needs of the clients met.
I worked directly with patient care providing pre and post operative care for a wide range of surgical needs by the clients seen in clinic. I helped room patients for initial consults, drained and managed wounds associated with surgery while monitoring for proper healing, and followed up post operatively with any patient care needs.
I worked as a CNA with this company until I achieved my LPN liscensure. I started in the kitchen as a dietary aide and then became a CNA where I found my passion for caring for the elderly. Job responsibilities included medication administration, direct resident care and assistance with ADL's as well as positive interactions in their days to make their stay in the transitional care unit a positive one.
