Line locates & Walk thru's & GIS map mark ups

Supervisors = Dan Comment, Paul Morrison & Tom Devlin.

UMC duties included job planning, materials needed, schedule work assignments.

While working out in the field, I'm always a strong proponent of Safety / Work smarter not harder mentality.

The use of MAXIMO computer application was key in updating labor entries - ensuring work orders were completed properly and on time and the work order corrections were true & accurate.

Juan Flores, Greg Hiers & I were using paper GIS maps to perform field duties. We would mark the maps, the maps went thru a QC process and then sent to RAY Stolinas.

Paul Morrison & I attended GPS training classes in TAMPA. The positive end result was the purchasing of Trimble GPS units that could perform sub meter accuracy after post processing. The post processing information was sent to Ray for further review & analysis.

I put together a GPS presentation and spoke before to large group of folks at Curry Ford meeting room explaining the benefits of this technology and why Orange County should move forward with this information.

Using GPS computer driven software & technology, GPS data collection at the sub meter level, underground asset locations were precise & accurate for future location needs.

I trained other Orange County employees on to properly operate the GPS units. Once I was confident the new staff were capable to move forward on their own - I moved to the next mission assignment in Orange County.

A new challenge awaits.

SCADA

  • My SCADA interview was very unique. During the interview, I brought to the table, a brand new car alarm. Why did I bring a car alarm to a job interview was the question. The presentation message was - this piece of equipment is not just car alarm as a normal person would be to believe. This simple, non-assuming piece of electronic equipment was in fact - a fully functional SCADA system. I made the presentation.

  • My strong work ethic was passed onto them.
  • At the end of every day, we would review what work was done that day and we would plan for the next day work assignment.
  • The bucket truck team was a very dedicate team at working independently & collaboratively in a team environment.
  • If the was a challenge - we as a team would come together for a solution to the pollution. Every person had skin in the game.
  • I put together the bucket truck team. I got to train them. I got to develop them. And as they left Orange County to go out into the real world - I knew for certain that I had provided them certain specific skills sets that would propel them forward into their next chapter in life.
  • KEVIN BEGY is now SCADA Administrator. I support Mr. Begy in ANY way shape, form, or fashion as he needs arise and as he sees fit. Kevin Begy SCADA group is a well oiled machine, we all get along great, we support each other with unwavering respect & always there to assist when one of our brothers is in need.
