I enjoyed the teaching experience. It was very satisfying to see the students progress both academically and non-academically. Some of the valuable lessons/skills I learned in teaching that I believe made a difference that I can apply to being a substitute teacher. The importance of classroom management, abiding to the rules for an orderly and safe classroom. Being enthusiastic about your teaching it is contagious. Adapting and being flexible. I learned to try different approaches. It taught to be patient. Empathy, understanding that not every student learns at the same pace. Employing a certain amount of sense of humor. Injecting some controlled fun in the classroom to promote engagement. The coaching experience taught me the value of the team approach in teaching. The other jobs I had taught me about real life experiences and how I might inject that into the classroom.
