Backend Software Engineer with several years of experience looking to use the lessons learned in various roles and environments over those years to transition to a position as an AWS Solutions Architect.
After Pluralsight acquired A Cloud Guru in 2021, I was added to their backend billing team interacting with 3rd party billing APIs like ChargeBee, in an AWS Serverless environment backed by DynamoDB. Additional projects included some front-end work in React within a microfrontend architecture, and some exposure to Python writing scripts to assist in the migration of A Cloud Gurus data into the Pluralsight system.
Originally hired as a back-end Ruby on Rails developer, that role eventually expanded to full stack development in an Angular/Rails/MySQL environment. Interesting projects included work on their internal course content creation site, as well most aspects of their customer facing educational sites for both students and enterprise customers. After Linux Academy was acquired by A Cloud guru in late 2020, my role shifted to serverless cloud development in AWS Lambda with Node and DynamoDB, while also providing occasional SQL support to the team tasked with migrating Linux Academy data into the ACG system.
Full-stack development in Ruby on Rails creating gems and a middleware API tier that consumed from their existing Java API backend. Front-end development was with Backbone.js and jQuery and included front end UI/UX design for their customer facing sites. To enforce consistency in UI/UX, and improve development release times, I also built a collection of gems to generate standardized UI templates. Additional projects at Focus included work on their mobile apps using Apache Cordova, and writing a collection of ruby scripts for migrating their existing bug tracking/SDLC management into Jira & Confluence from their outdated IBM system.
