

Derek Galose has dedicated the past 27 years of his career to Architectural History and Historic Preservation, engaging in projects across the United States, spanning from Maine to the U.S. Virgin Islands. He possesses a deep understanding of Federal and State regulatory mandates, particularly regarding Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Derek's extensive experience as an Architectural Historian for both the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana State Historic Preservation Office (LASHPO) has made him a valuable asset to his clients, especially in his role as a Section 106 Reviewer. Since 2005, Derek has collaborated on Federal Undertakings with agencies such as FEMA, HUD, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, the United States Navy, and the National Park Service. His work has involved implementing Section 106 Review responsibilities under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for some of the largest federally funded Disaster Recovery programs in the nation. These programs proposed projects have encompassed the listing and expansion of National Register Historic structures and districts, adverse effects determinations, and the development of Memoranda of Agreements (MOA) and Programmatic Agreements for various types of properties, including single-family homes, schools, hospitals, churches, military bases, cemetery's and infrastructure initiatives involving both Federal and State agencies and consulting parties such as the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Derek has also managed intricate restoration and preservation projects involving 18th-century structures along Mid-Coast Maine and has coordinated comprehensive historic structure reports historic house museums. Dereks devoted work ethic and proven commitment to meeting client's requests and deadlines has made him well respected in the industry.
