My Beliefs

  • The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by people under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. God inspires the Bible, which is true, without error, relevant, and applicable to our lives today.
  • God exists throughout eternity as one entity in the form of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
  • God is our Heavenly Father. He is excellent, all-knowing, all-powerful, omnipresent, unchanging, faithful, and above all, holy. We depend on Him for all that we have and all that we are. We can trust Him to be faithful to the promises He makes to His people.
  • Jesus Christ is 100% human and 100% God. He was born of a virgin mother as the Son of God, whose purpose was to bring God’s people back into a relationship with Him. He lived a perfect, sinless life so that He could take our place in God’s demand for perfect righteousness. His resurrection defeated death and gives us the opportunity to have new life.
  • The Holy Spirit’s presence comforts, guides, convicts, equips, and assures us of our relationship with God. He leads us into all truth and makes us more like Christ. His power works today through a variety of spiritual gifts He gives us, which always operate in harmony with scripture.
  • God created mankind in His image and as the masterpiece of His creation. Mankind was intended to have an unbridled relationship with God but became separated from Him through sinful disobedience. As a result, mankind cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort, thus presenting the need for Jesus. Each person is uniquely created, called to a meaningful purpose, and perfectly loved and forgiven by God through His Son Jesus.
  • The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God and cannot be earned through our efforts.
  • Sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and His Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ's character in us. It is through GRACE that this present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God takes place and the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • Mankind was created to live forever, either eternally separated from God in sin or forever united with God through forgiveness in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are both real places of eternal existence. To be eternally separated from God is Hell and to be eternally in union with Him is Heaven.
  • The Church is a local community of Believers unified through faith in Jesus. It is committed to teaching the commands of Jesus, equipping individuals with the necessary tools to obey God, and empowering them to share the Gospel with the world. We follow the lead of the early church and hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular partaking of communion. Neither of these practices are essential for salvation, but serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Christ.
  • The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel. The Bible’s list of these gifts are not necessarily exhaustive, and the gifts may occur in various combinations. All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.
  • Every follower of Jesus Christ is commanded by the Word of God to be baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; going public with their faith and symbolically raising to new life in Christ.
  • A unique time in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (symbolically representing the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
  • Healing of the sick is illustrated in the life and ministry of Jesus, and included in the commission of Jesus to His disciples. It is given as a sign, which is to follow believers.

My Values

  • I love God; I am not satisfied with God being “something” in our lives; I make Him “everything.”
  • I live by faith. God is big, so I dream big. Trusting Him in all things and taking risks for the advancement of the Gospel is in my DNA.
  • I unleash God's word. It's alive, it's powerful, and accomplishes what God sends it out to do.
  • I honor God's presence. Lives flourish in God’s presence. I will make a place for people to experience Him.
  • I build people, it's not what I do it's who I am. Building is a process of specific steps, so I create clear steps. Individually and collectively, I will take bold steps towards all that God has for me.
  • I choose joy; I will enjoy the journey and laugh hard, loud, and often.
  • I pursue excellence, and I will always bring my best by honoring God and inspiring people.
  • I remain teachable, I will be life-long learners; always hearing, reading and going deeper in God’s Word.
  • I am generous. I lead the way in generosity to see the work of God furthered in our world.
  • I intentionally develop and empower the now and the next generation to make a difference in their world today.
  • I love my city. Actions speak louder than words. I will take responsibility for it.
