I worked on a 10-person type 2 Initial Attack crew as a senior Firefighter GS5. I was tasked with the leadership of new hires and returning employees making sure they had the knowledge and training to succeed on the fireline and around the compound. I went on multiple Engine Boss assignments where i learned how to make quick decisions while also in charge of multiple personnel. I have spent alot of time on both hand crews and engines which has helped me biuld my skills in pump training and leadership.
During my time as a crew member on a type 2 Initial Attack Crew, it helped me develop new leaderships skills, while also helping first year fire fighter. I was able to increase me knowledge of fire management including both fire suppression and hazardous fuels reduction. During this time I was able to complete my Firefighter type 1 taskbook and also obtain my B Faller.
During my two summers working for the Heart of Oregon- Youth Conservation Corps, I worked on 6-person hand crew that assisted the Deschutes National Forest with with several projects. Some of the main jobs were hazardous fuels reduction, trail maintenance, reforestation, and range projects.
