Work History

Department of Internal Medicine

Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital
1 2022 - Current
  • See broad spectrum of patients, but with emphasis on those with highest acuity or greatest critical illness
  • Responsible for supervising both interns and students
  • Perform full spectrum of procedures, honing proficiency, and balancing quality of patient evaluation and care with improved overall efficiency.
  • See broad spectrum of undifferentiated patients on all shifts, in order of presentation of assignment by attending or senior resident with an emphasis on quality of patient evaluation and care
  • Perform the initial assessment of the patient and actively participate in all aspects of patient care, including history and physical, diagnostic, and therapeutic planning, procedures, writing orders, and interactions with family
  • In-depth discussion of all cases with the attending prior to initiation of all but the most basic diagnostic studies or therapeutic interventions.
  • Mentored junior faculty members, enhancing their teaching skills and research capabilities.
  • Championed diversity and inclusion initiatives within the department, fostering an inclusive academic community that valued varying perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Incorporated technology into lectures and course materials, creating an engaging learning environment for students both inside and outside the classroom setting.

Department of Internal Medicine

Saint Louis University Hospital
2020.06 - 2021.06
  • See broad spectrum of undifferentiated patients on all shifts, in order of presentation of assignment by attending or senior resident with an emphasis on quality of patient evaluation and care

Corner star Primary Care Center

2015.01 - 2020.01
  • Discuss Diabetes glucose control, breast, and ovarian cancer screening information with patients

Developmental Brain Research Program

Anschutz Medical Campus
1 2013 - 2014.01
  • Responsible for assisting in developing and implementing computational models to MRI imaging data
  • Worked on analyzing fMRI data from anorexic, obese, and control women
  • In addition, used the Temporal Difference (TD) model to predict brain-dopamine response for a given taste-reward task.
  • Managed project timelines effectively, ensuring all milestones were met or exceeded throughout the duration of each study.

Post-Baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA)

National Institutes of Health
2010.01 - 2012.01
  • Research was conducted through training in auditory discrimination/reward conditioning, neurophysiological recording, and functional neuroimaging (fMRI)
  • I trained monkeys based on a delayed non-match to sample (DNMS) behavioral testing paradigm
  • We also recorded and digitized local field potential multi-unit activity in an awake, monkey undergoing a passive listening task
  • We then applied a mapping technique based on neuronal frequency tuning and reversals of best-center frequency to identify which brain regions preferentially respond to species-specific vocalizations over other types of sounds
  • In order to further help us identify processes in the non-human primate that are evolutionarily related to speech processing areas in the human, we used fMRI to study whether certain regions of the auditory cortex were specialized for the processing of conspecific animal vocalizations in relation to environmental noises or other sounds.

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)

Emory University
1 2008
  • Studied brain regions involved in emotional processing, particularly during fear memory formation, consolidation and extinction learning
  • Two brain regions of interest were the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), which provides a top-down modulatory control in the brain; and the amygdala (BLA), our immediate emotional response system.

Howard University Department of Biology

2007.01
  • Attempted to naturally introduce a strain of Bacillus Mojavensis as an Endophyte in Triticum Vulgare (Wheat).

Howard University, Department of Health, Human Performance and Leisure Studies

2006.01
  • Was responsible for screening the serum of Seventeen healthy young adult African American men for LNCaP prostate tumor cell growth in vitro.
