During my employment as an SPS technician at the VA Medical Center, I volunteered to serve on the UPC Council. The UPC group was developed by VA employees to conceive process improvements throughout the different VA departments. My duties involved using copier machines, fax machines, and printers as well as using and sending emails, messenger, completing zoom meetings and relaying information from our UPC meetings to groups assigned. I have helped develop action plans to ensure information reached the necessary employees or group members all over the facility. Duties included scheduling group meetings, making and answering calls, completing task with fellow UPC team members. Working as a UPC council member helped me gain valuable experience in working with other departments and department managers as well as fellow employees to help the overall quality of our service to veterans. During the COVID-19 response, I have volunteered to help other departments in need due to staff shortage at the Chillicothe VA. Using skills learned through years of federal service, I was able to help environmental management services, engineering department, entrance COVID screenings, temperature checks, warehouse and delivery services, grounds maintenance, and transportation services. I am proud to have served the country and our veterans during the COVID-19 epidemic.
I am a veteran with great communication and people skills. I like to fix and troubleshoot problems using experience gained by working in various places and conditions and with different people. I am great with collaborating with fellow employees and helping anyone who needs it. I enjoy learning new skills and working with people. I am currently pursuing a degree in the Information Technology field. My goal is to obtain an IT degree and work alongside other IT professionals and until then I want to work with people and learn new skills and abilities.
