Derisa Hamilton

I am currently the Perinatal Nurse Educator for the Women's Pavillion at East Georgia Regional ( 2/2021 - present ) I transferred to my position from the Operating Room where I worked as a Circulating Nurse for Orthopedic cases and Gynecological cases. ( 10/2016 - 2/2021 ) From 10/2014 to 10/2016 I worked as a Manager for Gentiva Home Health. Before my departure initially from East Georgia I was the Director of Pain Management from 7/2006 to 10/2014 and a Labor and Delivery nurse from 7/1992 to 7/2006.

• Participated in evidence-based practice project implementation, nursing competency development and nursing simulation activities.
• Advocated for patients by communicating care preferences to practitioners, verifying interventions met treatment goals and identifying insurance coverage limitations.
• Performed triage on incoming patients and determined severity of injuries and illnesses.
• Utilized critical thinking skills to prioritize nursing interventions based on patients'' acuity levels and individual needs.
• Conducted thorough patient assessments to identify changes in condition, promptly notifying physicians and initiating appropriate interventions when necessary.
