Derrick Aring

Mr. Aring established himself as both a leader and SME of testing practices for Acumen Solutions' internal QA team and external clients.

In regards to client responsibilities, Mr. Aring was promoted into a Test Lead position with responsibilities including:
• Providing testing guidance to a team of 5 Quality Assurance Analysts and assisting them accomplish large testing efforts for mobile banking applications.
• Creating test plans and strategies that presented timelines, risks, and dependencies in accomplishing. testing efforts to clients' senior management.
• Creating test execution summary reports.
• Creating and assigning tasks for team resources
• Leading test case peer review sessions.
• Leading UAT sessions.
• Providing QA signoff at end of releases.
• Resolving team blockers.
• Training resources continuously on new software expanding their overall QA knowledge.
• Onboarding new resources that join the team.

Outside of project responsibilities Mr. Aring has established a Section 508 Accessibility Compliance test plan and strategy for Acumen Solutions. With over 3 years of Section 508 and remediation testing of software for clients Mr. Aring sought out to become the SME within Acumen Solutions and establish a new service to be sold to clients. The following demonstrates initiative and leadership skills internally to provide new opportunities for Acumen solutions:

• Created a tailored Section 508 test plan and strategy to be sold to clients.
• Completed 90 hours of training and certification on Section 508 through the department of Homeland Security.
• Coached up members on the Managed Services team by helping them understand the testing principles within the training to help get them certified.
• Established a community of practice within the office.
• Mr. Aring has successfully provided a one screen audit for a company that was interested in experts testing for Section 508 compliance. The Feedback was well received and turned into a new opportunity with a client for Acumen Solutions, they have since requested 3 resources with 100 percent to audit two applications within their website.

• Mr. Aring worked with off-site teams to deliver new functionality into native mobile applications by effectively test planning and strategizing for new releases. This was accomplished by leveraging exploratory testing approaches to create and execute test scripts and document identified defects using JIRA. Some highlights within this role included successfully logging over 1200 defects across 20 new features introduced into client's mobile applications. Outside of external client responsibilities, Mr. Aring proposed Agile Scrum training for new hires to Acumen Solutions management. This proposal established training as apart of new hire orientation that Mr. Aring has given to approximately 60 new hires since it's inception

• Mr. Aring achieved in-depth knowledge of SQL coding and relational databases successfully created, tested and implemented over one hundred custom SQL stored procedures across 100 Enterprise Trucking Companies databases that were based on discovery of their needs and defining requirements directly with customers. Mr. Aring also achieved 97% service level agreement with customers that EDI support was provided for. Other responsibilities included installing and integrating EDI software to customer's major enterprise systems, testing of data procedures to ensure quality and training end-users on their enterprise EDI software

• Mr. Aring successfully established 200 new client EDI integrations and implementations through mapping X12 EDI transactions to fully customizable web-based solutions so clients can receive purchase orders and effectively invoice them to trading partners. Expanding expertise in requirement gathering allowed for Mr. Aring to create optimized front end solutions that automated flow of data and reduce lead time for clients' potential sales. Mr. Aring was awarded several honors at 1Edisource including Peer spotlight award winner and Managed Services MVP Outstanding Contributor award recipient
