Applied Behavior Analysis Counselor

Melmark
Malvern, PA
06.2021 - 10.2021
  • Melmark is a private boarding school for children with autism and other cognitive dysfunctions. In this role I would: wake the children up for the day, assist in personal hygiene, make sure they received breakfast and documented each process as they were completed to include the level of assistance required in comparison to the independence displayed. I would assist 1-3 students with the short walk to the school building where the environment was classroom style, with about 5-6 students per room.
  • This role consisted of developing, preparing, and implementing training programs, games, and tasks to assist in advancing the cognitive function of the children while simultaneously documenting their improvement, regression, or challenging behaviors throughout the tasks and day. Much of this job consisted of challenging behavior management in conjunction with educational development through both academic and skill training and other "teachable moments".
  • The skills required for this job included; professionalism, confidentiality, compassion, extreme attention-to-detail, patience, and most importantly, a passion to help others learn and grow.

Undergraduate Assistant

Hofstra University
Hempstead, NY

  • In this role I offered diverse clerical support to office team members in the Undergraduate Student Affairs Suite at Hofstra University. The office included directors in parent and family programs, communications, and many other key departments. • Timely documentation, detail-oriented proofing and care with documents.

Applied Behavior Analysis Technician

Autism Behavior Consulting Group
Long Island, NY
01.2019 - 08.2019
  • This position allowed me to work as an in-home Applied Behavior Analysis Technician for children with autism, ages ranging from 5-10. During my time here I worked with two children, designing and implementing educational plans to assist in cognitive functioning and create pathways to mitigate challenging behaviors. I gathered and maintained data during student sessions, completed daily treatment logs and consistently submitted and recorded timely written and verbal progress reports.
  • I gained the deepest level of compassion and care that has extended to jobs and relationships outside of my career development and learned patience as it relates to working with children. This role also taught me the necessity of trusting and believing in your own skill set and learning when to ask for help.
