Work History

PLC / IT /Electrical Technician

United States Gypsum, USG
Sigurd, UT
04.2004 - 12.2025

I worked for 21 and half years at USG. I was PLC / IT Tech for the last 10 years and 4 months. Electrical Supervisor and PLC Tech Supervisor for 6 years and 9 months. Industrial Electrician 2 years 9 months. Also assisted with mechanical maintenance from time to time when needed. Always called on to work on and troubleshoot electrical issues.

Worked with Profibus and Ethernet TCP communications with CTI and Allen Bradley PLC's to Yaskawa and Allen Bradley variable frequency drives (VFDs), Servo drives, Acrison feeders, Mettler Toledo Scale controllers, other PLC's , and other devices. Worked with weight loss feeders, non weight loss feeders. Some of the equipment I was told set if up and make it work and then show others how it works and train them. Some I had to change VFD's and the communication type and make them work. I was responsible for setting up VFD's, trouble shooting problems and sometimes repairing them. I worked with the electricians and mechanics to determine if it was mechanical, electrical or PLC problem. Having a good understanding of mechanical , electrical through the PLC helped me locate the problem quickly. I was called a lot to help electricians and mechanics with problems. Experience with electrical work on new installations, including running rigid conduit, pulling wire, terminating, powering up, and troubleshooting. Installing and setting up sensors, light curtains, I/O devices. Programming and work on automated equipment like Wulftec Stretch Wrapper, Carton Former , Bag Inserter, Lid Placer, and Carton Sealer, and Columbia Okura robot, implementing new pattern controls, and making program modifications. Operated equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, bobcat, and loaders. Just some of the equipment I worked with.
