Work on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit within the hospital which facilitates crisis resolution and stabilization. Our therapeutic approaches are integrative, including developmental, psychopharmacologic, behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and solution-focused techniques. Children aged 3 to 12 years who require psychiatric hospitalization are treated on the Child Psychiatric Unit (CPU); adolescents aged 13 to 17 are treated on the Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (APU).
• Provide direct patient care and management of children and adolescents while under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed psychiatric professional
• Lead, monitor, and collaborate educational and therapeutic groups for patients
• Participate in clinical rounds, maintain communication with unit or department leadership
• Respond as part of the Behavioral Assistance Resource Team: Provide assistance to patients, family members or visitors 18 years of age and younger exhibiting the potential for harm to self or others
• Ensure proper documentation of patient progress; complete 15-minute patient checks; provide one-to-one patient observation and or milieu management
• Assist new hires as required
• Attend educational in-service presentations for Behavior Specialists, participate in unit committees and educational offerings
• Collaborate with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unit safety
• Provide customer service as related to the Mental Health field
