Parts Identification and Ordering:

• Track order status, and keep customers and technicians updated.

Inventory Management:

• Monitor and manage stock levels to meet customer and workshop demands.

• Organize stock areas for easy access and efficient workflow.
• Assist with stock checks and inventory audits to maintain accuracy.

Workshop Support:

• Work closely with service technicians to ensure that needed parts are available promptly.

Sales and Invoicing:

• Process parts sales through dealership or inventory management systems.
• Prepare invoices, and ensure accurate billing.

• Handle returns, warranty parts, and core charges efficiently.

Record Keeping and Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records of orders, deliveries, returns, and sales.
• Document warranty claims, and assist with return procedures.
• Keep customer and transaction information up to date in the system.

Compliance and Safety:

• Follow workplace safety guidelines and company procedures.
• Ensure parts storage areas are clean, organized, and hazard-free.
• Comply with all company policies, data protection regulations, and industry standards.

As a M-Day sergeant in the South Dakota National Guard, the duties are as follows.

Fire Direction Control (FDC) Operations:

• Supervise and assist in receiving, processing, and transmitting fire missions to artillery units.
• Operate and oversee the use of the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) and other digital fire control systems.
• Ensure accuracy in targeting data, including grid coordinates, munitions type, and firing solutions.
• Coordinate the timing and sequencing of artillery fire with forward observers (13F), other 13J personnel, and commanders.

Leadership and supervision:

• Lead and train a section or fire direction team (typically 4–8 soldiers).
• Mentor junior 13Js on technical procedures, safety protocols, and battlefield communications.
• Conduct NCO-level counseling, evaluations, and corrective training as needed.
• Set the standard for discipline, physical readiness, and tactical proficiency.

Equipment and Systems Management:

• Maintain accountability of communication gear, fire control computers, and vehicles (e.g., HMMWVs, or FDC shelters).
• Ensure all fire direction and communications equipment is operational, secure, and maintained.
• Supervise system upgrades, loading of software, and troubleshooting.

Tactical and mission planning:

• Participate in fire support planning during field exercises and combat operations.
• Coordinate with artillery batteries, forward observers, and battalion staff to synchronize fire support.
• Understand and apply call-for-fire procedures, fire support coordination measures, and rules of engagement.

Training and Readiness:

• Plan and execute individual and crew training (MOS-specific and general soldier tasks).
• Conduct and evaluate fire mission rehearsals, digital system training, and field operations.
• Maintain soldiers’ readiness in all areas: medical, weapon qualification, physical fitness, and deployment status.

As a sales/parts specialist, duties are as follows.

Customer Service:

• Assist customers in identifying the correct auto parts, tools, and accessories for their vehicles.
• Answer customer questions over the phone or in person about parts availability, installation, and compatibility.
• Offer professional recommendations based on customer needs (e.g., for repairs, maintenance, upgrades, or performance enhancements).

Parts Sales:

• Actively promote and sell auto parts, accessories, and related products to customers.
• Suggest additional products that may complement or enhance the customer's purchase (e.g., offering oil filters when selling engine oil).
• Handle cash, credit, and warranty transactions accurately and efficiently.

Inventory Management:

• Ensure that shelves and displays are stocked with products. This may involve receiving deliveries, checking for damage, and organizing the inventory.
