NICU Nurse

  • Utilized advanced technology such as ventilators and feeding pumps to provide comprehensive care for infants in need of special care
  • Cares for preterm, late preterm and full term neonates
  • Assists mothers with lactation needs
  • Neonatal and pediatric IV placement, peripheral, capillary blood draws, assist's and maintains with sterile neonatal PICC, UV and UA line placement
  • Assists with Neonatal Endotracheal Tube placement, Surfactant Administration, Less Invasive Surfactant Administration.
  • Assist's NICU providers and RT with short term Endotracheal Ventilation of newborns with Hypoxia and or RDS, NIPV Ventilation, Ram cannula CPAP and bubble CPAP
  • Attends and assists with neonatal resuscitation of healthy and high risk newborns
  • Assists with admissions of sick and stable newborn's, assists with transfer of unstable newborns to higher level of care
  • Cross trained to Newborn Nursery
  • Assumes the charge nurse role
  • Delegates as appropriate to unit census and acuity
  • Assists with and delegates safe staffing ratios
  • Collaborates with, NICU, Labor and Delivery, and Postpartum team members, Obstetric and NICU providers, management, social work, security and off shift supervisors to maintain a safe and healthy environment for parents, family and neonates
