Project Superintendent (Night)

URI
Baltimore, MD
07.2020 - 12.2020
  • 16 million dollar industrial fire loss. 250,000sqft Pepsi Co bottling facility. An electrical panel near the loading docks caught fire, igniting the poly insulation sheeting covering the entire north wall of the facility. The structure was fully affected by soot throughout the entire facility.
  • Co-ordinated with Pepsis regional vice president of operations for the Northeast, the facility General Manager, and carrier representatives who were on site for the duration of the project.
  • This was an extremely complex loss with multiple carriers and decision makers involved.
  • A crew of 100 technicians were utilized in two shifts working in 12 hours asynchronously (1 day shift and one night shift).
  • I ran the night shift and oversaw the project. The lack of production on Pepsis part allowed the nigh shift to accomplish roughly 1.5 times the output of the day shift with the same number of technicians. We ultimately shifted 25 of the best technicians from the day shift to night and only operated the night shift with 75. Doing this allowed us to mantain the same output while saving 25k per week in labor costs.
  • The loss was complete in just over 6 months for just under 1.6 million. A profit margin of just over 90%.
  • Ceiling and wall heights were in excess of 80'. Many types of specialized machines utilized. XL scissor jacks, XL man lifts, desiccant dehumidifiers. Co-ordinated with multiple trades and rental houses to keep all rental equipment maintained and to ensure electricity is readily available for use without possibility of interruption of Pepsis daily operations.
