Throughout my years of playing viola and being around music instruments, I've come to appreciate how much I enjoy music and incorporated it into my life. Whilst I don't plan on majoring in music, I do plan on continuing playing throughout college. Since I first started off playing in 2017, Blackerby has been the shop I visited, From buying my first block of rosin 5 years ago to purchasing my first viola in 2022. I'm acquainted with the employees and for several months took private lessons with the Violist Gerald Liu. I think it would be a fun experience working at a job surrounded by instruments and people who are also interested in music as well, and regardless, I still plan on going to Blackerby for my instrument needs.
I started my Viola studies in middle school at Kealing Middle School under Director David Jarrot. Later i would apply for the McCallum Fine Arts Program in 2019, being accepted I would play for the McCallum Freshman Orchestra and The McCallum Concert Orchestra under Director Ricky Pringle and Co-Director Erika Elder. In my junior year I would study musical theory, which is required as being a music major in the Fine Arts Program and Currently I am in AP music theory in my senior year. As of August 2023, I am the 1st chair violist of the McCallum Concert Orchestra .
From may 2022 to August 2022, I worked at Starbucks as a barista, during that time I learned the values of customer service, as well as working with a team. During my time there I also experienced plenty of workplace incidents in which I learned how to handle both myself and the situation occuring.
