Dear sir or Ma’am:
Today is your lucky day I am the manager that is so hard to find
Four years ago, I arrived in Houston looking for a re-start after the COVID-19 pandemic I got a job working for College Hunks At first, I moved furniture and marketed the business, going door to door and car to car with leaflets The company’s owner quickly saw that I was a leader and moved me into a management position As a trusted manager in a small but growing business, I had the opportunity to learn all parts of the operation I handle schedules, hiring, oversee marketing, do budgeting and pay attention to the bottom I have learned how to develop and read spreadsheets
The most difficult part of the job is where my greatest skills lie: Managing people, both workers and customers As you might imagine in the moving business, we get workers who are at different stages of life and experience I try to show the right mix of empathy and tough love to bring out the best in them and retain the good workers At the same time, I am able to handle customers in a way that is fair and professional I am able to navigate these worlds because growing up I was regularly around a diverse group of people — Black, white, Latino, rich, middle class and poor
I have reached the top of where I can go with the small business owner who hired me four years ago I am looking for the next opportunity where I can stretch myself and have the possibility of being promoted
Thank you in advance for your consideration,
Devonte Ash
