Work History

Emergency Room Volunteer

Saint Louis University Hospital
09.2023 - Current
  • I assist nurses with communicating with patients and families, running errands, answering call lights, giving directions, and assisting with the transportation of patients.

Research in Clinical Research Lab

Washington University School of Medicine
09.2024 - 05.2025
  • I was assigned to a postdoc in the and will be trained for basic molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culture techniques for the project.
  • I worked closely with Dr. Malay Choudhury, who is the head of the project.
  • I was responsible to learn basic cellular, molecular biological techniques like culturing cells, western blotting, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, flow cytometry and apoptotic assays.
  • In later stages, I was included in the IACUC protocol and will was trained for mice handling like giving IP injections, and isolating lungs from mice and process for H&E, mason trichrome staining.

Environmental Biotech Research Intern

Parker Lab, McKelvey School of Engineering
05.2024 - 08.2024
  • The main goals of my project were to extract contaminants from activated carbon in Point of Use (POU) Brita filters, observe and analyze the percent recoveries of various compounds in the pre-made contaminated water, and estimate the timed-average concentration of agrochemicals that are adsorbed on the filters.

Assistant Researcher

Vanderbilt University
Nashville
07.2023 - 09.2023
  • I assisted Dr. Swati Dey from the cardiology department at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
  • I mainly focused on marking ECG scans of various animals and determining whether they showed signs of tachycardia, premature ventricular complexes (PVC, bradycardia, etc.
  • I conducted most of the work from my own home.

Research in Neuroscience Lab

Washington University School of Medicine
01.2022 - 01.2023
  • Working with Dr. Jin-Moo Lee and Dr. Asher Albertson, I helped perform experiments which attempt to better elucidate these drivers.
  • I specifically helped with scoring behavioral stroke recovery in mice, help with histology, including brain slicing and staining, and eventually with microscopy and whole-brain imaging.

Environmental Educator and Field Researcher

Pacific Science Center
01.2019 - 12.2019
  • My colleagues and I conducted field research that involves collecting water samples from the streams in the watershed which were analyzed and the data was used to determine how to purify the stream water.
  • Other than the collection of water samples, we also made observations regarding the life that exists in the streams including the approximate number of fish and frogs who live there.
  • Our duties involved removing the debris that was polluting the stream as well as planting trees in order to control erosion and runoff.
  • As a result of our efforts, we witnessed less pollution in the streams as well as an increased number of fish and plants.
  • Watching my fieldwork translate to ecological improvements inspires me to learn more about environmental biology and what other ways there are to preserve our environment.

Lab Assistant, Department of Cardiology

Johns Hopkins Hospital
01.2019 - 12.2019
  • I participated in a research project at Johns Hopkins Hospital for a month which confirmed my interest in research.
  • The project I worked on studied cardiac ablation in pigs.
  • My main duties were measuring and cataloging the size of the area cauterized on the pig hearts (the ablated area) in order to determine intraobserver variation.
  • Once my month’s stay ended, I came home and attended weekly meetings to discuss the progress of the project and continue the data collection, this time by measuring ablated areas of about 100 images sent to me.
  • A paper for this project has been completed and has been submitted to the Heart Rhythm Journal for publication.
