Nursing Assistant — NA-I +4, Emergency Department, High Point Regional Hospital, High Point, NC, 05/25, Present, Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department, caring for patients with a wide range of conditions and acuity levels while working closely with registered nurses and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Work in a high-pressure environment where patient conditions can change rapidly, requiring strong prioritization, situational awareness, communication, and teamwork. Assist with the care of critically ill and emergent patients, including patients experiencing cardiac emergencies and cardiac arrest. Participate in emergency response and perform CPR during cardiac arrest situations within scope and according to facility protocols. Perform 12-lead EKGs as directed and promptly communicate patient concerns or findings to nursing staff. Obtain and accurately document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, and oxygen saturation, while recognizing and reporting significant changes. Apply supplemental oxygen as directed and assist with monitoring patients requiring oxygen support. Assist with Foley catheter placement and/or care as directed and within scope. Perform venipuncture for blood specimen collection as permitted within scope and facility policy. Assist with blood draws and specimen collection, ensuring appropriate labeling and delivery of specimens according to hospital procedures. Assist with patient transfers between beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs and escort patients to diagnostic and inpatient areas. Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding, while maintaining patient dignity and safety. Communicate patient needs, changes in condition, and relevant observations to nurses to support timely intervention and continuity of care. Remain calm, adaptable, and attentive while managing multiple patients and competing priorities in a high-volume Emergency Department.
