  • Helped manage and organize other technicians, and report their results to my managers.

  • I was part of a 5-member podcast for the Global Social Leaders competition
  • The podcast Snackity Snacks mission was to expand the local knowledge of Guatemalan Citizens about their Civil Rights and Duties
  • We partnered with the local radio station Radio Quezada, where we reached an audience of 14,000 people
  • We also partnered up with Radio Sonica reaching an audience of 1,057,406
  • This experience taught me how to use social media and other technological tools to expand my work
  • It also helped me master my communication and teamwork skills

Husbandry Worker

  • I worked at the URI East farm as a husbandry worker for eight months.
  • I was responsible for taking care of rainbow trout tanks.
  • This included husbandry work (feeding, cleaning the tanks), and monitoring the quality of the water (DO, temperature, pH, and the amount of ammonia).
  • This job taught me about the finfish aquaculture business, and it gave me the chance to work on my resilience because I had to walk 40 minutes to get to work and 40 minutes back since I did not have a car, and buses did not get to the farm.
  • Maintained records on feed consumption, animal weights, reproductive activities, treatments given and other pertinent data.
  • Assisted with euthanasia when necessary and properly disposed of carcasses according to regulations.
  • Observed animals for signs of illness or injury and reported any changes in health to veterinarians.
