During my time at Cesar Chavez High School, I pursued a demanding academic curriculum that included Advanced Placement (AP) and college-credit courses. These challenging subjects fostered my intellectual growth and ability to handle rigorous coursework. Concurrently, I completed a two-year Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, which was instrumental in developing my discipline and teamwork skills through hands-on, task-oriented projects.
As a dedicated student-athlete, I was a member of the Chavez wrestling team. This experience was both mentally and physically demanding, teaching me invaluable lessons in time management and strategic planning to balance academic commitments with athletic training.
Upon the conclusion of my senior wrestling season, I proactively sought employment and was hired at Popeye's. Our location was characterized by its fast-paced environment and frequent staff shortages, often requiring only two to three employees to manage the entire operation per shift. This dynamic necessitated rapid adaptation and the ability to perform effectively across multiple roles. I consistently worked closing shifts during school days (4 PM - 12 AM) and maintained open availability for all shifts on weekends, demonstrating my flexibility and strong work ethic. This experience significantly enhanced my ability to thrive under pressure, manage diverse responsibilities, and contribute effectively to a lean team.
June 21, 2025, To whom it may concern, My name is David Maleno. I am a shift manager at the Popeye's located in Delano, California. I am writing to highly recommend Diego Navarro as a perfect candidate for the position of crew member at your restaurant. I have had the pleasure of working with Diego for about a month, and I am honestly saddened to see him leave. You see, he was fortunate enough to have been accepted at his first choice of colleges, which meant he had to move states to attend. Due to this, Diego had to resign from his position as a crew member at my store. My store location is very low volume, which means my crew has to be cross-trained to meet my location’s scheduling needs. This means that Diego has excelled in the role of cashier, prep, and cook. Diego has and continues to impress me as he was able to adapt to these specific demands and exceed my expectations. He has demonstrated excellent use of customer service and time management skills during his time working with me. He demonstrated an excellent understanding of a POS system and how to properly package orders. He also learned the proper way to marinate and prepare the chicken for the frying process. I do not doubt that Diego will be a valuable asset to your crew because he was an invaluable addition to mine, and I wholeheartedly recommend him as a top candidate. Should you require additional information about Diego’s qualifications, feel free to contact me! Sincerely,
David Maleno
