Leveraging extensive experience has been such a rewarding experience in a place with a large vision gap. I have already made great strides in improving the plant's systems, especially around rotating equipment.
Rebuild specifications, precision maintenance installation best practices, condition-based monitoring, improving PMs, optimizing workflow processes, standardizing equipment, root cause failure analysis, bad actor lists, pulling cost-saving information from SAP and Meridium.
Bringing confidence and clarity to the plant, where it has been lost for many years due to high turnover.

Senior Reliability Engineer

Breathed life into the mill's Reliability program by establishing various systems and programs. Ultrasonic lubrication for critical motors, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) processes, oil analysis program, operator basic care routes, operator driven reliability routes, 5S gearbox storage, 5S oil storage, saved mill $400k via drone inspections and $1M+ per year in TSP failures
Efficiently managed the PV&T program including safety relief valves. Managed 3 full-time onsite NDT contractors to prioritize inspections. Out of over 1000 tanks at the mill, 700 tanks were overdue for inspection/repair. I started in March of 2019 and by 2022, the mill was nearly within complete compliance
Led 10 ECM/Lubricators and 4 Vibration Technicians (3 Level III and 1 Level I) on a daily basis. Started every day off reviewing prior day's performance, liabilities, and safety concerns while identifying the high risk task for each day. Cultivated a strong relationship and sense of trust with each individual employee
Routinely pulled data around bad acting equipment throughout the mill to help maintenance and operations better target their endeavors and increase OME. Successfully found and eliminated issues around rolls, thick stock pumps, belts, chains, hydraulic systems
Routinely reviewed findings from ECM and Vibration Technicians with maintenance and operations via daily approval meetings and advocated for necessary repairs dependent upon severity of issue and criticality of equipment
Created a millwide Reliability Scorecard with multiple high value metrics which is reported out monthly, reviewed during routine budget meetings, and has been selected to be adopted company wide as the standard for all 30+ WestRock mills
Consistently leveraging vendors to perform cost saving projects and audits. Have participated in multiple Reliability audits at other facilities. The West Point mill has scored the highest overall on the WestRock Advanced Reliability Assessment of the 30+ WestRock facilities. Participated in millwide FM Global audits and corrective actions to ensure mill remains in compliance with environmental and insurance regulations
Actively involved with maintenance jobs in the day-to-day work flow and planning for single day outages that involve more extensive repairs and PMs. Following up with mechanics during and after jobs to ensure precision maintenance best practices were utilized and documented on a precision maintenance sheet. Have planned and executed within budget for 6 consecutive millwide annual cold outages that last anywhere from 15 to 40 days of consecutive work throughout the entire facility
Have been selected to help multiple facilities when difficult times arise on a few occasions. Helped with start up of brand new $300M paper machine in Florence, SC by guiding the reliability team in setting up their lubrication routes within Maintelligence. Spent additional time at this facility overseeing contractors as they installed equipment on a new wash line to feed the new paper machine after several failed attempts from OEM. Engaged with contractors installing bearings to ensure they adhered to every step of precision maintenance installation

In addition to being a Reliability engineer, I was also the mill's Capital Project Manager. Managed multiple $500k projects as well as other smaller capital projects. Created RFQs to competitively bid projects, edited and designed P&IDs, developed technical reports for our capital project process, created project Gantts and IAPs. The largest project was $1.5M to construct a new Sulfuric Acid Tank and upgrade the filtering system and relative piping for the process
