At age 10, I personally accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior into my life. I believe the path to Salvation is simple; there are a few things you should do. To personally accept Him, too as your Lord and Savior, first you must admit you are a sinner; you have sinned. What is Sin? Sin is anything you think, say, or do that displeases God. Things like lying, stealing, cheating, and coveting are all sins. The wages (or payment/ price) of sin are death. As sinners we all deserve to pay; our payment is eternal death. We all have sinners; we all will die a physical death, but Jesus in our stead, paid the price of eternal death. Jesus came to earth, born of a virgin, and died a criminal's death by crucifixion. The second step to Salvation is believing in Him and believing that He came and paid the price for not only your sin, but the sins of the world. We must believe that He died, but not only that, but on the third day being in the tomb, Jesus defeated death, hell, and the grave and rose again. His resurrection on the first Easter Sunday gave us all hope. Hope for the future that we do not have to pay; the price was already paid. If someone offered you the keys to a beautiful mansion, already paid for, would you take it? The answer for most of us is "yes!" It is like that with Salvation. When we receive salvation, we take those keys and unlock the door to our new mansion. A new mansion is exciting; who would not want one? But receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior is so much more valuable than a mansion that would be destroyed by flood, fire, etc. Jesus is eternal. He offers a lifelong companionship, and a home in Heaven, with all our loved ones. The last step in accepting Jesus as your Savior is the best part. Confessing to Him, Confession. There is an old saying," Confession is good for the soul." Confession is often refreshing, getting rid of the unconfessed sin is always like a restart. When you confess that you have sinned, you understand that 1. You have sinned (Admittance) 2. You believe Jesus us who He said He was, and He can save you, if you accept Him (Belief) and 3. You confess that you have sinned, and sin has its price. You confess you have sinned, and you confess you do need a savior. When you do this, you receive Jesus as your Savior, and you receive eternal life. After receiving Salvation, if you have not already told someone, the first thing you will want to do is tell someone! This is an extremely exciting new change in your life, and you will need support. Telling someone; a minister, a Christian friend etc. will provide someone to speak with and counsel you on your new journey. After telling someone, you will then want to participate in believer's baptism. Baptism is an outward showing of your new acceptance of Christ as your Savior. When you are baptized, you are outwardly showing to others that you have decided to follow Jesus, and you are ready to learn and grow. After I accepted Jesus, I then went and sat in on Bible Classes. Our church holds an unaccredited Bible College, and after sitting in a yearlong of classes, after counseling with the pastor and praying, it was God's will to enroll. It was very tough for me, copying books of the Bible, authoring reports, sermon and lesson outlines and various other difficult tasks. Through those four years, I was able to learn, grow, improve my skills, and excel in Biblical knowledge. At the end of the four years, I was able to earn a bachelor's degree in biblical theology. With the degree, I was equipped to teach and aid in children's ministries such as the children's Christmas play, children's church, the bus ministry, and door to door soul winning. My husband and I also visited nursing homes, administering to, and fellowshipping with patients, who were unable to ambulate. (He is a former certified nursing assistant.) I personally love ministry and I love being able to be light, especially in this shadowy world. I think things as simple as sharing a smile to things as crucial as giving lifesaving medicine and providing clean water are important to show the love of Christ.
