Grade 3 French Teacher in the
French Immersion School Of Wa
Bellevue, WA
10.2021 - Current
Since 2021, I have been teaching the CE2 class, an experience that has allowed me to acquire in-depth knowledge, particularly in the field of social and emotional learning. The well-being of the student is essential for them to develop their full potential and thrive in a nurturing learning environment.
The exchanges and sharing of teaching methods between French and English teachers have allowed me to enrich my skills and refine my practices in all areas, particularly in the field of social and emotional teaching.
I have also taken several courses on neuroscience, the latest of which was entitled 'What does my prefrontal cortex do?'. These courses enabled me to discover the importance of metacognition and to acquire strategies to help students assess themselves, thus reinforcing the positive attitudes needed to improve their learning mechanisms.
Furthermore, within the framework of neuroscience at FISW, we have implemented the Atol program, which helps students better understand how their brain works and the factors that influence their attention on a daily basis. This program teaches them to react better, not only in class, but also in their daily lives.
I participated in several projects proposed by the Agency for French Education Abroad, such as STEM, Math Challenges, and writing bilingual stories.
Grade 2 French Teacher
at Lycée franco-Libanais Verdun
Beirut, Lebanon
09.2007 - 06.2021
I taught for 15 years in the first grade, and each year I renewed my teaching methods.
I regularly attended workshops to stay updated on new developments and to meet my needs.
I encouraged interactive learning by integrating educational software and the internet, and by diversifying the learning methods: inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and problem-based learning.
I have also been an effective member in setting up progress workshops aimed at helping students overcome their learning difficulties.
Before COVID, I was among the first to integrate the flipped classroom system into my practice.
I created my own capsules that I published on my YouTube channel: "https://www.youtube.com/@dinakobtan5922
Tablets were used frequently in my class: we did digital dictations, practice exercises and listened texts followed by an online quiz.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, remote learning was urgently implemented to ensure educational continuity. Thanks to this experience, I have significantly developed my digital skills. I had the opportunity to discover many websites, interactive platforms, and educational software, each offering valuable tools to enhance distance learning.
Videoconferences via Zoom and meet were also held. This experience has been very beneficial on both a professional and personal level.
