Dina will also be responsible for serving as a liaison with the client from the retention stages to the trial, now handled electronically and under the special rules of each judicial/administrative party, rules aimed at electronic filings, new service requirements, virtual courtrooms of judges, presentation of witnesses, and others.
As such, she will be responsible for interacting with and preparing clients for legal proceedings, evaluating the original documents in the native Spanish language with senior attorneys to verify their authenticity and accuracy.

Under the close supervision of the immigration lawyer, you will be responsible for meeting with clients, conversing in their native language of Spanish, and preparing and submitting immigration petitions after translating.
The title serves as a link between the lawyer's office, the clients, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Department of State (DOS), and they will respond to your information requests.
The titular will also prepare and submit forms I-589, I-130, -360, I-765, and I-485 to USCIS. Forms DS 260, DS 160, before the National Visa Center. Forms 42B, EOIR 28, 33/IC, I-589, and Prosecutorial Discretion (PD) requests with the respective Immigration Courts and the Department of Homeland Security. Filing applications for Permanent Residency, as well as other types of nonimmigrant petitions for our clients, as permitted by law.
Communicate effectively with clients regarding the preparation of their cases, identify immigration solutions for clients, and understand the client's current activity.
Prepare clients for trial by performing tasks, such as electronically meeting with Spanish-speaking clients to ensure the safety of our clients and staff. The meetings will be conducted via Zoom, Skype, Outlook, G-meetings, among others.
A meeting should be scheduled with the clients to discuss and prepare testimonials, drafting of affidavits, supporting statements, and evidence for the lawyer's review. Analyze and record all specific client processes/procedures on the firm's intranet.
Upload electronically, updating the current status of cases, actions needed, schedule of applications to be filed with the court; coordinate the response to the government's request for evidence, notice of intent to deny; compliance with the call dates.
Consult with senior lawyers and clients, and act as an interpreter/mediator in those meetings so that the lawyer can communicate with the clients to discuss legal issues, document drafting, and review of legal arguments, writings, and motions, which will be electronically filed.
Prepare forms, sworn statements, declarations, and responses, and communications to be submitted to immigration agencies and courts.
Translate legal documents written in Spanish so that they can be presented to immigration authorities and agencies. Evaluate the immigration history of foreigners in the client's native language (Spanish), so that the lawyer can determine the options for incorporation and facilitate immigration case work.
Conduct mock interviews in advance of any sponsored, visa-subject client traveling internationally.
Evaluate and propose the incorporation, as evidence to support our clients' claims, of documents issued by Spanish-speaking countries.
Evaluate the policies and statutes of foreign countries related to the COVID-19 situation that could strengthen the motions, petitions, and requests of our clients for immigration cases.
Review and interpret foreign jurisprudence and legislation in Spanish, with special consideration to the current development of the pandemic in our clients' countries, and suggest the use of applicable law in written submissions and pleadings before judicial and administrative bodies.
Communicate and discuss with lawyers, notaries, private companies, and foreign government officials to gather the necessary evidence to submit applications to immigration authorities. Coordinate the issuance of documents, taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic in those countries, and be able to trust this information to the lawyers.
The offered position of Legal Assistant, Immigration Specialist, falls under the classification of a specialized occupation, due to the complexity of the duties and obligations established in the job description and the novelty of the duties that pertain to the position due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The position offered can only be filled by a candidate with a bachelor's degree.
A higher degree in the field of law is required to perform such activities, as very specific skills are needed.
This person must effectively manage and provide critical support to our senior lawyers from initial client consultation to the final stage of cases and therefore the holder must have the minimum amount of emotional intelligence, financial literacy, and project management skills that are only achieved by attending and completing a law degree
In order to succeed in the offered position, you will have to practice your knowledge of law daily and possess a fluent competence in the applied ability acquired and developed through your academic training.
The majority of cases in our office require knowledge of international law, especially South American legislation, as evidence must be prepared abroad to strengthen our clients' cases.
Our office is in constant coordination with lawyers, notaries, experts, and witnesses, all of them abroad, and knowledge of international law is required to perform this position.
Conducted research on relevant statutes, case law, regulations, and legal articles.
