• Proactively connect with students to support outreach and retention efforts of the pathways counseling model.
• Act as a liaison between student, staff and Coordinators/Counselors.
• Screen and handle incoming calls from students and the public, providing necessary information, taking messages, or redirecting inquiries to appropriate departments.
• Interact with students through in-person, email, phone call, and virtual formats to provide assistance with milestone questions, progression, and making appointments with a counselor.
• Sets up and maintains electronic database, files, documents, and student record data regarding pathway counseling outreach and retention efforts.
• Communicate with faculty regularly to strategize on effective proactive counseling outreach and retention efforts.
• Provide referrals and resources, as well as encouragement and support.
• Serve as first point of contact in Counseling Offices; Provide guidance to students, staff and public regarding enrollment and financial aid processes, including steps to admissions, registration, and graduation, applying for financial aid, types of financial aid and application status; make referrals to higher level employees as needed
• Answer student questions and provide accurate information on how to access support services to support retention.
• Offer information on Counseling Department policies and procedures to students and the public.
• Provides students with direction related to college rules and regulations, policies and procedures; and assists students in the enrollment application process; discusses resources, programs and services available throughout the district.
• Assists students with study skills and student success strategies. Refers students to workshops and guidance courses as appropriate. May work in collaboration with the counseling faculty to implement various student success workshops.
• Conducts a variety of outreach activities; including presentations regarding programs and services; campus resources; develops flyers, newsletters and brochures; develops e-mail messages; may assist in recruiting students from high schools.
• Review and enforce current Counseling Department office policies and procedures, serving as an information source for staff and students.
• Coordinate and schedule all preregistration and registration questions within Counseling Department including fulfilling computer center requests through the Counseling Virtual Lobby and Student Support Hub.
• Participates in District-provided in-service training programs and attends conferences as appropriate.
• Develops and maintains effective and supportive working relations with all stakeholders.
• Provide clerical support to one or more Programs: Enrollment Services and Counseling Services, as assigned.
• Provide information and assistance to students on use of web services, online application, registration, transcript requests, enrollment status and other required information, as needed
• Performs other duties, related to the position, as assigned.
