This position plans, directs, and maintains efficient manufacturing operation of the E3 Coater. This is done while meeting safety, production, and quality requirements. I provide second level of hourly supervision for production employees as needed to assure safe and efficient work. The key accountabilities for my position are: Providing leadership in safety excellence. Implementing and leading coater & coating prep area improvements. Convert the business plan to a daily operations plan. Providing technical expertise in daily operations. Coordinate repairs and maintenance; establish priorities for repair work; schedule shutdowns to optimize maintenance repairs. Participate in Capital Projects planning and budgeting. Thorough understanding of unit operations, process equipment, and technology. In depth knowledge of plant operations, maintenance spending constraints, production commitments, costs, margins, capital projects, small projects and turnarounds.
In charge of proper Mill functionality of both Specialties and Paper Departments. Worked with crews on safety topics and concerns as well as what was in store for day to day operations. I would help troubleshoot any problems any of the machines may have been having, while contacting and working with Maintenace crews when needed. Completed work requests, entered operation concerns and safety hazards, and completed shift reports daily.
Moved up quickly and had eight years combined experience on #1 Paper Machine’s Coater as well as Back tender on both #1 and #2 Paper Machines. I used my critical thinking skills to problem solve and troubleshoot all aspects of applying coating and making numerous grades of paper. My responsibility as a Coater Back tender was to maintain the coater head and coater oven. I had to think critically to diagnose, and troubleshoot problems within the coater, and work with Maintenance personnel when needed. I was responsible for the coating profile, coat weight, appearance, airflow adjustments for proper flow through the oven, and setting draws to ensure proper tension on the sheet. As a Back Tender, I oversaw and worked within a team to achieve a quality product in a safe efficient manner through communication, guidance with my experience, teamwork, and leadership skills. As well as troubleshooting and diagnosing drying and draw related issues within the Paper Machines. I am well versed in locations and proper functionality of all pieces of paper making equipment in the Munising Mill and like to understand how everything works and is supposed to work. Very well versed in LOTO and confined space entry with my couple stints as Hourly Safety Coordinator. Also had completed training in POHO as Assistant Fireman, and was a Mill First Responder and member of the Fire Brigade.
