• Trained other nurses on patient care and daily tasks, supporting growth and professional development. I was a preceptor for many years.
• Participated in quality improvement initiatives in order to improve patient outcomes. I was the first Quality Improvement Facilitator for the NICU. I also served on the practice council and was active in assisting with first Magnet Designation
• Assessed patient conditions, monitored behaviors and updated supervising physicians with observations and concerns.
• Administered oral, IV and intra-muscular medications and monitored patient reactions.
• Managed multiple tasks simultaneously while prioritizing urgent requests from physicians or nurses.
• Conducted specified laboratory tests to help detect conditions and determine diagnosis.
• Provided emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
• Evaluated patients, recognized and addressed complications and coordinated treatment with other members of critical care team.
• Trained and mentored new RNs on best practices, hospital policies and standards of care.
• Educated patients and families on health care needs, conditions, and options.

I have an excellent skill set and assessment abilities. After 35 years in the NICU, I continue to love my job and thrive by continuing to educate myself on current evidence-based practice protocols. I sat on the scheduling committee and also chaired the Development Care Committee. I have been certified since 2006.
