Summerlin Quick Care

University Medical Center of Southern Nevada

Las Vegas

NV

United States

UMC Quick Cares encounter a variety of conditions requiring treatment. Sometimes the treatment is more than we are equipped for and requires quick action to move a patient to a higher level of care. Recently the Summerlin location encountered a man who entered with a gunshot wound. Fortunately, it was to his foot, but the required treatment called for skilled staff to meet the needs and notify UMC security as well as metro. Dolly, the RN Charge Nurse, quickly responded and took charge of the situation giving direction to her coworkers as well as guidance to the providers who were unsure of the steps needed to stabilize and move the patient to a higher level of care. She helped keep the clinic going even with the barriers and blood to the front door area. She communicated with all staff, providers, and even patients to keep the environment calm. Dolly has been seen numerous times exhibiting exceptional skills in communication, care, and remaining calm during emergencies. Her abilities keep our patients safe and ensure the team is doing what is needed in an emergency. She is our DAISY every day!
