I served as the Primary Administrative Supervisor to provide administrative foundation for the unit. Responsibilities included:
- Counseled personnel on questions ranging from career moves, reserve information, pay entitlements and reenlistment bonuses, college funds, choice duty stations incentive programs, retirement options and veteran’s benefits. Adaptability and initiative greatly assisted the unit as it transformed to meet the task of providing customer service. Efforts exceeded Commandant’s requirement of quality improvement.
- Developed creative solutions for improving organizational efficiency, and policy. Compiled personnel evaluations data, and prepared reports by transcribing data for conference presentation by senior officers. Merged Microsoft Word and Excel to create graphics that showed quantitative analysis. Made arrangements for conferences and meetings; attended and recorded minutes.
- Read and analyzed incoming correspondence, and reports to determine their significance and prioritized their distribution. Monitored performance and tracked progress by establishing monthly spreadsheets to ensure travel orders and pay voucher accuracy and consistency with established procedures. Submitted pay voucher documents in a timely manner.
- Utilized various software applications and graphics hardware such as scanners to prepare documents and charts.
- Managed the employee performance evaluation process and awards program.
- Employee Benefits Administrator for the Navy Mutual Assistance Program and Serviceman Group Life Insurance (SGLI)
- Event management/special projects for the Chief's Association.
