Hi my name is Dominick Velasquez. I am a first generation college student and come from a hispanic household. My mom is Mexican and my dad is Salvadoran. I like to volunteer lots of my time to camps and other events in the community to help people my age and bring awareness on topics that are usually ignored or frowned upon. I like to socialize and network but am also shy at times. When I'm not volunteering I usually work on the weekends with my dad.I also do activities outside of school such as FLA. I have been with Future Leaders of America since 2022 entering my junior year. It has helped me come out of my shell and develop many skills that I now have. When I was a little kid I was always interested in debates and how the whole county functions. But until recently I haven't put much thought into it until FLA sparked my interest in political science and leadership. I was always one of those people that didn't know what they wanted to major in. But thanks to my friends and FLA I have found where my interests lie.I wanted to become more involved and engaged with the law, government and politics and am eager to start. I have big dreams and goals and will get there even if it seems impossible. I want to attend either Georgetown university or Stanford after I transfer with the ultimate goal of becoming president in the future. I have many skills that will help me in the future. But I still need lots of learning and am looking forward to exploring different perspectives and ideas.
I basically did the same thing as last camp but had more of a leadership role in the group known as A-team. I would help the intern with the group so i’d supervise and make sure everyone was good and on task. But also made sure for breaks and fun time.
