Over ten years of successful higher education experience at both four-year and two-year institutions, with skills in the areas of specialized programs, academic support, outreach and recruitment, and building curriculum for college classroom instruction. Deeply committed to student access and equity-minded practices, with special focus on Mental Health and Wellness scholarship within higher education.
- Design and coordinate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion/Belonging programming for various student, faculty, staff, and alumni constituencies.
-Develop and maintain relationships with student organizations, providing support, counsel, and guidance, including regularly convening meetings of Affinity Group Leaders and hosting events, including transitionary retreats for leaders.
-Support the matriculation of CSOL students from historically underrepresented groups or who are first-generation law students, by serving as a support, counsel, and guide to ensure a sense of belonging inside and outside of the classroom.
-Participated in a four week intensive program, gaining information and skills on ways to successfully assist Community College students
-Received student services training in the following: General Counseling, Financial Aid, Guardian Scholars, Black Collegians, EOPS, Veteran Services, Athletics, and Crisis and Prevention, and Welcome and Outreach services.
- Received additional training on best Counseling practices, IGETC/CSU general education patterns, Associate degrees, and working knowledge of the RN Nursing program
-Shadowed General Counseling staff in one-on-one counseling appointments and walk-ins
-Gained knowledge of the matriculation process, academic support resources, transfer process, and educational plans such as Associate of Arts/Science Plan- Type A/Type B, Associate of Arts/Sciences to Transfer (AA-T/AS-T), and specialized degree programs.
