Dr. Donald E. English is the first African American President of the Chaffey Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees. The Chaffey Joint Union High Schools District, established in 1911, is the second largest high school district in the state of California, providing a quality education for high school students for over a century.
Dr. Don English has an extensive and distinguished professional background in education, youth advocacy, and leadership. His career reflects a commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and fostering safer, more inclusive communities. Dr. English's visionary leadership focus, as it relates to organizational growth and change, has allowed schools to evolve in the best manner to meet the needs of students, families, and communities. Dr. English has the unique ability to collaborate in a positive manner with all stakeholders. Dr. English is a leader in securing federal, state, and local grant funding. Dr. English has a thorough background in legislative analysis, development of curriculum, policies, and budgets. Dr. English's interpersonal skills that lend to the development of relationships throughout the State of California, functioning as a conduit of information to local levels related to education.
Dr. English has served as the Director of Child Welfare and Attendance, overseeing Homeless Education and Foster Youth Services, where he worked to ensure that students facing challenging circumstances received the support they needed to thrive academically and personally. Dr. English further extended his impact as the Executive Director of the San Bernardino Countywide Gangs and Drugs Taskforce, collaborating with community partners to address pressing issues affecting youth and their families.
In the realm of professional leadership, he has held prominent roles such as President of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), Region 12, and President of ACSA's Education Options Council, where he provided strategic direction and advocacy for educators across the state. Additionally, as President of the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance, Dr. English championed policies and practices that support the well-being and academic success of all students.
Further demonstrating his dedication to educational leadership, Dr. English continues to served as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Chaffey Joint Union High School District, where he guided decision-making to enhance the quality of education and opportunities for high school students.
