Transportation service employees generally work on call, or perhaps regular assigned jobs. As a train service engineer, my responsibility is to move my train from the initial terminal to the final terminal in a safe and efficient manner, according to common safety practices and company rules governing train movements.

• Conductors and engineers operate trains, perform terminal switching according to safety practices and carrier operating rules.

• Operated passenger train route between Panama City and Colon daily for KCS Railway Co. Training of Panamanian employees in operating and safety practices.

• Texas Northern primarily moved slab steel from Veels Switch, TX to the steel mill in Lone Star, TX, in interchange with the KCS Railway.

• The service manager was responsible for all employee work schedules. Locomotive maintenance schedules, and all switching as required by the customer, was performed in a timely and safe manner. All inbound/outbound trains are handled according to common safety practices and local operating rules.

• Industrial switching inside a chemical plant. All switching and train movements were very controlled, and safety was a priority.

• I worked as a switchman at Clovis, NM. I worked as a Conductor in Clovis and Raton, NM. Train operations were in both ABS train orders and CTC.
