Primary Care Nursing for Open Heart and Cardiac Care patients. Primary responsibility includes direct nursing care of patients utilizing the nursing process; development and application of leadership, management, and communication concepts; teaching of patients and staff; maintenance of professional standards. All these ICU units use the Primary Nurse Care model and either has a 1:1 or 1:2 nurse ratio based on acuity of patient needs.

Emergency Room/ ICU/Trauma -Birth to Geriatrics

Emergency Room and Emergency Room Intensive Care Adult, and Emergency Room Pediatric Intensive Care. Patient population all discipline and ages. Primary responsibility includes direct nursing care of patients utilizing the nursing process; development and application of leadership, management, and communication concepts; teaching of patients and staff; maintenance of professional standards. This unit uses the primary nurse care model. 1-5 nurse ratio for the general emergency department and a 1-2 or 1-4 ICU patients (depending on staff availability. The trauma patient ratio is 1:1 nurse patient ratio and could be up to 3:1 nurse patient ratio depending on the intensity of injury)

Pediatric/Pediatric ICU –Birth to 18 years of age.

Pediatric General Medical Surgical, Pediatric Medical Surgical Hematology Oncology, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Primary Care of Neonates to adolescents-cardiology, cardiac surgery, heart transplant, cardiomyopathy, congenital liver disease, liver transplant, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel transplant, diabetes, neurological disorders. Pediatric Medical Surgical uses a primary care model with a 3-1 nurse to patient ratio. No care partners or LVN used on this unit. Pediatric Intensive Care unit uses a primary care model with a 1-2 nurse patient ratio. No Care partners or LVN’s used on this unit.

Float Pool Staff RN for Medical Surgical Floor

Primary Staff RN for general Medical Surgical Patients. Primary responsibility includes direct nursing care of patients using the team nursing model. Managing a 1-8 patient nurse ratio with 1-2 care partners and possibly overseeing 1- LVN. Utilizing the nursing process; development and application of leadership, management, and communication concepts; teaching of patients and staff; maintenance of professional standards.

Postpartum/Antepartum Medical Surgical Floor-

Primary Staff RN for general post-partum and antepartum patient population. Primary responsibility include direct primary nursing care of patients with a 1-8 nurse patient ratio model 4 mothers and 4 infants rooming in utilizing the nursing process; development and application of leadership, management, and communication concepts; teaching of patients and staff; maintenance of professional standards.

Critical Care Transport Team- Birth to Geriatrics

CCT team covers inter-facility transports between Santa Monica Medical Center and Westwood Ronald Regaen Medical Center. Also responds to non-emergent calls to Med Plaza transporting patients to Emergency Room, direct admits to Santa Monica or Ronald Reagan. This team also responds to code blue called within all UCLA patient care areas located within the medical plaza. The team is also used as a Critical Care Resource for unstable patients and difficulty IV starts and Interosseous placement. Adult team travels via ground ambulance, fixed wing and helicopter. This is always a 1:1 nurse ratio using the Primary Care Nurse model.

Primary Care of Level three neonates with varied diagnoses.

Full-time Transplant Kidney Coordinator 1997-1999

Full-time Staff RN for Kidney Transplant Program responsible to Cadaver and Living Related Transplants.
