Special Skills Qualifications

  • Create schedules for students and paraprofessionals that fit within the requirements of the campus schedule and IEP criteria of each student.
  • Work with students that display aggressive behavior, de-escalate as per training and district policy, use restraint if required, document behavior to assist in understanding function of behavior for future.
  • Maintain yearly Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification and use of de-escalation techniques.
  • Mentor and train newly hired special education teachers and paraprofessionals for the rigors of working with students with special needs, especially Autism and aggressive behaviors in the inclusion and self-contained environments.
  • Lias between general education teachers, parents, and students to find techniques and assistive technology that fits well for each student.
  • Use general education teacher and parent input to develop IEP goals and all other ARD paperwork to present drafts to the ARD committee for review and approval. Discuss drafts with parents before the meeting occurs.
  • Support general education teachers and paraprofessionals with materials, assistive technology, and visuals, as well as how to use them most effectively.
  • Monitor students and record data daily and for annual IEP meetings and make adjustments as data indicates a need. Maintain those records in student binders for evidence of research based decisions.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and all staff to foster the development of each student.
  • 10 plus years ABA training and real world use of techniques.
  • Develop programs, lessons, and instructional materials appropriate to each student’s ability level while still maintaining challenges to promote growth and development.
  • Maintain daily flexibility with what is required and needed by me to assist students and staff, as well as give directives in a professional manner to paraprofessionals when needed to further assist students and staff.
