Taking care of patient on Non-Invasive Ventilation e.g. continuous positive airway pressure and Bi-level positive airway pressure. Obtaining blood specimens from arterial and central venous line. Arterial blood gas interpretation and analysis acting on results. ECG recording, able to recognize arrhythmias and providing intervention based on interpretation. Transfer of critically ill patients to other departments for diagnostic purposes e.g. to the CT scan on continuous non-invasive ventilation and inotropes fully monitored and having multiple drugs infusion. Incorporate health education and health promotion within clinical practice through providing verbal and written information to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met. Contribute to the effective discharge planning patients. Keeps records in relation to patient-related activity maintaining confidentiality and within relevant legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures. Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse. Provides basic bedside care. Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays, such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, manometers, oxygen pumps, etc. Set and safety checking primary types of ventilator e.g. Dragger, Philips. Monitors catheters, leads and tubing for proper placement and functioning. Acts as patient advocate by supporting the basic rights, values and beliefs of the patient. Communicates to family/significant others appropriate information on patient’s condition. Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting. Under supervision will be able to line and prime haemofiltration machines. Able to initiating care of troubleshooting and discontinuing of haemofiltration treatment. Assisting the medical staff with performing percutaneous tracheostomy. Responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift and must be timely informed regarding any changes of patient conditions. Assigns patients/staff allocation to the staff on duty according to the level of experience and achieved competencies and regularly checks execution of nursing tasks and performance. Preparing patients prior to the surgery: Giving pre-surgery medication to the patient. Taking written consent of the patient and the guardian for undertaking the surgery. Doing the required blood and other tests prior to the surgery. Taking note of any allergies patient might have and informing the surgeon about the same. Ensure patient has fasted before the surgery. Ensuring proper clothing is worn by the patient for the surgery. Post-surgery, the nurse’s duties such us: Closely observe the patient for any side effects. Give proper diet and medication as per surgeon’s directive. Administer intravenous fluids to the patient. Change wound dressing from time to time. Assist the patient in eating and personal hygiene in case he is not able to move. Record all the details of the patient and his progress post-surgery in a proper documented form. Help in discharge from hospital. Responsible for the direct patient care. Demonstrated the proper use of equipment’s, knowledge of medicines and taking care of the patient. Provided the nursing care before and after of operation for patients. Responsible for the assessment of the patient and make plans of care to develop the health of the patient. Responsibilities include the document the patient progress, keep the track of records, and evaluate them. Assessing, observing and reporting on the condition of patients. Recording pulse, temperature and respiration and keeping accurate records of these observations. Setting up drips and blood transfusions; maintaining and checking intravenous infusions. Assisting with tests and evaluations; responding quickly to emergencies. Treatment and procedures to enable parents/guardians to consent to treatment. Supporting, advising and educating patients and close relatives. Engaging in and promoting multidisciplinary teamwork, including working alongside specialist doctors and nurses, health visitors, social workers, radiographers and physiotherapists. Observing strict hygiene and safety rules and ensuring that visitors also observe any rules on the ward or unit.
