I began my career as a respiratory therapist working in critical care, then moved on to nursing administration working on the business end of the field. I then worked as a surgery scheduler for a large surgical suite at St. Mary's Medical Center and worked 16 years PRN in the dementia unit as a psych tech at St. Mary's.

Accurately monitor, observe and report patients placed on the cardiac telemetry monitor. Accurate measurements of PRI/QRS and QT . Expedite reporting of rhythm changes, changes in heart rates and any other abnormalities relevant to patient care and positive patient outcomes. Blue phone emergent situations. Removing expired telemetry from patients and cleaning equipment. Average patient load can vary from 40-70 patients. Responsible for reviewing flow board and making telemetry monitors for new admits as ordered. Completing MUSE on holidays and weekends and any hours worked after 7pm. Answering physician and clinician calls in regard to their patients as needed. Assisting clinical staff in any way necessary to obtain optimal care for the patient.
Telemetry monitoring for a 33 bed multidisciplinary hospital including ventilated and tracheostomy patients. Responsible for accurate monitoring of patients, PRI/QRS/QT measurements. Notifying RN of any patient abnormalities, etc.
As unit secretary responsible for answering all patient call lights, processing and accurately ordering physician orders. Assisting staff as needed . Greeting visitors and helping with any questions. Accurately taking new referral information for the admission office. Assisting physicians as needed . Other duties as deemed by the Shift Leader.
Team Leader for for the emergency room department registration team. Responsible for 22 employees. Responsible for interviewing, recruitment and retention of registration team. Coaching and developing skills for not only myself but for the team as well. Annual evaluations. Empowering employees to become part of the interview team. Creating a work environment that produced productive work hours and accurate information for patient registration. Knowledge of EMTALA laws and HIPPA requirements.
