- Being the Library Supervisor for Sierra School has been a wonderful experience.
- We participated in a very successful Books Are Fun Book Blast for the 2026 school year that enabled all 416 students to receive a minimum of three brand new books, 10 teachers received $100 shopping sprees, 200 students received prizes, and the library earned about $2500.
- This allowed me to gift 16 teachers 10 free hardcover books for their classrooms.
- Doing so left the library with about $1000 towards new books.
- We held this event so that when the book packages all arrived, we had a Book Opening Party in coordination Dr Seuss' Read Across America Day.
- We've held very successful Scholastic and Literati book fairs that provided about $4000 per year to purchase many books for the library collection.
- We held fun events like the Bookmark contest.
- Students in grades TK-5th drew their favorite book from our school library and two winners per grade received 50 cardstock color printed bookmarks to keep and give away to their family and friends.
- Our school participated in the California Young Reader Medal every year.
- We read the 5 nominated books in 5 weeks and students voted on their favorite book.
- Their votes were sent off to be counted statewide for a winner to be chosen.
- I was also the coordinator for the Accelerated Reader program.
- I kept track of each student's AR points and they earned prizes throughout the year.
- Towards the end of the year, we asked for many donations from the community for the top four readers from grades 2 thru 5 to receive the Highest AR Point Earner Award.
- I had many students enjoy the library before and after school, during their recesses, and of course during their 25 min time slot each week.
- The library is the safe, quiet, and fun place to be.
