Work History

Staff RN

Murray-Calloway County Hospital
07.1988 - Current
  • RN working at Murray-Calloway County Hospital for 37 years in many different RN roles in which I gave 100% to my job, patients, patient's families and co workers. Being dependable, responsible and with a great attendance record.
  • I started my career at Murray Calloway County Hospital on July 18, 1988 on a large medical floor which cared for a variety of patients including telemetry and pediatric patients. After a year in a half of working on a busy medical floor as a staff nurse and relief charge nurse I transferred to the mental health unit that had recently opened and worked there as charge nurse until it closed six years later. During these six years working as a psychiatric nurse I was responsible for patient and staff safety. This position required lots of decision making including ER assessments of potential admissions or other recommendations. When this unit I got the opportunity to be a float RN and I worked in many different areas of the hospital covering whatever the need might be which helped me to learn versalitilty. I worked in the progressive care unit, long-term care unit, transitional care unit, recovery room, pedatrics, overflow patients waiting to be admitted and med-surg. During this time I also provided relief coverage for the mental health nurse who made home visits for hospice and mental health patients. I also made community visits to assist with health screenings. After spending a few years as a float nurse I worked post partum for a few years before landing in perioperative services. I worked in same day surgery for 15 years where I became very proficient at blood draw, starting IV's, patient assessments patient education, medication lists, pain control and follow-up care, I started working in case management in September 2016 primarily in utilization review doing reviews for medical necessity I became efficient doing admission reviews using Interqual. I also performed in a less often role as case manager and discharge planner. After three years full time years in utilization management I changed to prn and went to Fresenius Kidney Care fulltime as a dialysis RN. I worked at Fresenius for three years then received an offer for full time back with case management as the appeals and denial specialist which I have been doing since September 2022. I remained prn for over a year at Fresenius but had to let it go since I was working fulltime in case management. I have been working as the appeals and denial specialist from September 2022 until present.
